A truly impressive and superb quality, large "Spinel"-twinned crystals of Native Copper from the recent mining at this large Copper pit locality in Australia. The specimen almost reminds me of an arrow due to its shape, but it also has somewhat of an organic quality to it as well. The piece displays a fantastic blending of the large central twin which is flanged on several sides by small Copper crystallization, along with the gorgeous skeletal or "hoppered" faces that can be seen all over. The piece is a complete undamaged "floater" with excellent form, sharpness and crystallization. It is reminiscent of similar specimens from the Chino Mine in New Mexico, but these Australian specimens are heftier and more robust! This piece displays beautifully from either side to the point where I can't decide which side is actually the "front" because it looks so good all over. If you collect Copper or native elements, do not miss out on getting your hands on one of these remarkable specimens. The Rocklands Mine (also known as the Rocklands Group Copper Project) is a large copper deposit in northwestern Queensland, Australia and wasn't known primarily for producing much in the way of specimens. We started to see some arborescent / dendritic specimens of Copper trickling out in 2017, but in 2019 there was a major discovery of significant and important CRYSTALLIZED Copper specimens! At the Tucson Show in 2020, we were fortunate have a good friend who works at the mine, and gave us first choice to hand select from a parcel that he brought especially for us.
