The various ore bodies in southern Bulgaria have produced a lot of memorable sulfide and carbonate specimens, and even though the Rhodochrosite from this area is not world-class, it IS the only locality that I know of where Rhodochrosite occurs with STILBITE ! The combination of pink Rhodochrosite, cream-colored Stilbite, golden Chalcopyrite and white Quartz makes this a very attractive display piece. Perhaps the most interesting aspect of the piece is the fact that one side has a near full coverage of Rhodochrosite, while the other side is filled with Stilbite. This is only one of a few pieces of this material that I have seen in my life where Rhodochrosite and Stilbite occur together on the same specimen.
