A most unusual, doubly-terminated “floater” crystal of white / colorless Quartz from this locality collected by Robert Stoufer with Carl Auclair in 1998. It’s obviously from a very obscure locality, and conspicuously different from most Quartz crystals I have seen from this area. The piece unquestionably shows a strange habit, and it is indeed a single crystal, not a group of intergrown complex crystals. Great luster and certainly gemmy / translucent in areas as well. If you collect Quartz or Colorado minerals, don’t miss out on this peculiar crystal from this well-known Quartz producing region.
Locality: B. K. Pocket, Meteor Pocket Area, South of Ouray, Ouray County, Colorado
Specimen size: 7.7 x 2.1 x 1.1 cm (small cabinet)
