Some of the finest and most beloved Anatase crystals in the world are those from the famous Hardangervidda area in Norway. These crystals are not only superb in terms of quality, but also size. They are textbook examples of Anatase as a species, and if you collect Alpine or "Alpine-type" minerals, or if you're simply a fan of superbly well-crystallized mineral specimens, these pieces are a must have for your collection.
This piece is a wonderful toenail sized display specimen featuring an excellent, classic, very sharp, rather lustrous, doubly-terminated tetragonal crystal with smaller Anatase crystals and white Calcite on matrix. The crystal is very dark, even with backlighting, but I can see a slight golden hue in a few tiny spots here and there.
For reference, the listing on mindat.org states, "The mountain plateau called Hardangervidda covers an area that is divided by 3 counties (fylker): Hordaland, Telemark and Buskerud. Most of it belongs to the Hardangervidda National Park. The localities that have produced {the} most specimens are Matskorhæ and Dyrfonni. NOTE: Some of the localities of anatase and quartz are located inside the Hardangervidda National Park, and collecting and removing minerals is strictly forbidden there."
