Madagascar Sapphire Page
This page features beautiful Sapphires from a recent find in Madagascar.
They have exceptional euhedral form, the crystals are amazingly bright and colorful, plus they are
remarkably lustrous for the species. Nearly all of
these Sapphires display color-change properties from sun to indoor lighting
(typically they display such a dramatic color change that they change varieties
from Sapphire to Ruby !). In indoor light, as photographed, the crystals are
purple color and change to a beautiful, vivid blue color in sunlight. The
pinkish-red color crystals change to purplish-red color in sunlight. These
crystals have great fluorescent properties as well.
In my opinion, these are some of the most intriguing and beautiful minerals to
come from Madagascar, as well as being very reasonably priced.
