Bolivian Vivianite!
From the new find at the end of Summer 2004.
We are very proud to offer the first of what we consider to be some of the very
best quality crystals of this species to ever come from Bolivia. These
crystals have without question the best luster of any Vivianite specimens to
date from this country. Another outstanding feature is the wonderful color
contrast between the vivid green Vivianite and the altered red sandstone . These
pieces have what is some of the best matrix for these crystals from Bolivia.
It's not unstable like decomposing Limonite and it provides a much more
appealing contrast than ordinary Pyrite. These pieces have outstanding
sharpness, luster,
aesthetics and color plus they are on a wonderful matrix.
Enjoy !!

Here is a great large doubly-terminated crystal from the find with some minor
sandstone. There is a contact on the bottom where it detached from the
pocket. It still is a great cluster, which is less common from this find.
This one looks better in person, it was simply difficult to photograph.
Locality: Tomokoni adit, near Cañutillos, Colavi, Saavedra
Province, Potosí Department, 36 km NE of Potosí, Bolivia.

This piece has great aesthetic form and a beautiful gem crystal
flaring out of the side of a larger predominant crystal group. All the
crystals are exceptionally sharp, lustrous and gemmy with only a minor contact
on the side-car crystal where it detached from the pocket. One of the best
pieces for the price I think.

The termination on this piece is what makes it so wonderful.
Most minerals don't form curved crystals like this,
which is one of the great aspects of Vivianite.
There is a wonderful curved "fan"-shape group of crystals
spinning towards another smaller group of crystals giving it a wavy appearance.
The overall quality on this one is superb.

This piece has one of the most attractive twisted "sprays" flaring out of the
side of a beautiful, sharp, GEM doubly-terminated prismatic crystal all sitting
atop a very well balanced contrasting matrix. The quality is very good on
this piece and again, this one looks better in person than the photos would
indicate. One tiny "flea-bite" is the only noticeable damage we can find
on the specimen.

This large miniature size specimen has wonderful aesthetics. The main
crystal is a thick, very sharp, highly lustrous, gemmy deep emerald green
"sword"-shaped prism aesthetically sitting atop a nice mound of contrasting
sandstone. The piece displays well without the aid of a stand or clay.
Larger crystals such as this are very hard to find with such great form and
balance from this locality.

is why the price is so reasonable. A good buy for a piece this
