Pentagonite is one of my favorite "new" species of the last 30 years and one of the most beloved from the Deccan Trappe in India. The very finest Pentagonite specimens in the world occur at Wagholi. Pentagonite is dimorphous with Cavansite which means that the two species are chemically identical, but they have different crystal habits. It derives its name from the fact that textbook crystals are actually five-sided, which is a tremendously rare occurrence in the mineral world. The intense and unique color of this species is what attracts collectors. The following specimens are from the new find from a few months ago, and these specimens seemed to have disappeared from the market as fast as they arrived. I did see a few dealers with similar Pentagonites in Tucson, and I was very surprised to see that our pieces are priced remarkably lower than most specimens of equal size and quality.
