Gemstones Cut By Us

We are very excited to present this beautiful update of our custom cut and hand carved gemstones.  This update contains some of the finest gems to have come out of our shop.  Faceting large gemstones requires much hard work and patience, and even more so with hand carved gems because they first must be faceted, then carved and finally hand polished to give them their unique appearance.  All of these gemstones were cut from hand selected, high quality gem rough.  We strive to create fine quality, amazing and unique custom gemstones that are seldom seen on today's market.   All of the stones on this page were faceted by Allyce and Brett Kosnar.  All of these gems can be made into a custom pieces of jewelry by Brett Kosnar, upon request!

Comments:

Here is a dazzling Heliodor gemstone from our shop. Heliodor from Volodarsk-Volynskii is some of the most beloved and classic Beryl extant. Good gem material is scarce due to the fact that this locality has not produced any good specimens in years. There is a small, yet notable, "Horse Hair" inclusion in this stone that is indicative of Heliodor from the Ukraine, otherwise the gem is amazingly clean. The outstanding brillance, great clarity, and large size of this stone make it a great collector's gem, for sure!  This gem was facted by Allyce Kosnar.

Gemstone # CITBOL2496
Name: Citrine
Locality: Bolivia
Weight: 24.96 carats
Size: 24.84 x 12.52 mm
Price per Carat: $ 30.00
Price For Stone: $ 748.80
Cut: Angled Bar cut w/ Bubbles
Color: Yellow

Cut by Us: No

Comments:

This stone has half sphere shaped "bubbles" that were hand carved into the pavilion. The gem has amazing clarity, and the carving on the bottom makes it really "stand out" from other Citrine gemstones. Hand carving a stone can be very time consuming, requiring much control and patience, but as you can see it is well worth it for the end result. We are hoping to bring you more of these hand carved gems in the future. This stone was faceted and hand carved by Brett Kosnar.

Gemstone # LEMONBRAZ4280
Name: Lemon Quartz
Locality: Brazil
Weight: 42.80 carats
Size: 27.97 x 18.55 mm
Price per Carat: $ 12.00
Price For Stone: $ 513.60
      Cut: Modified Cleopatra's Eye
Color: Yellow
Clarity: Eye Clean
Cut by Us: Yes
Availability: Available

Comments: The cut on this stone is called Cleopatra’s Eye because as you can see it resembles a human eye. The half sphere "bubble" that was hand carved in the center of the pavilion, really finishes off the stone because it gives the appearance of a retina. This gem has great clarity and flash. The beautiful lemon yellow color is obtained by heating the Quartz, no damage is done only the color is enhanced. I truly have not seen another cut like this, and it really becomes more of a conversation piece than just a gemstone. This stone was faceted and hand carved by Brett Kosnar.

Comments:

Tourmaline from Afghanistan has risen drastically in price over the past two years, making top quality rough more difficult for us to acquire. With the Tourmaline market on the rise, stones like this will be very difficult to acuiqre for reasonable prices in the near future. This stone has a gorgeous, deep sea foam green color that shimmers throughout the gem. This stone was faceted by Allyce Kosnar.

Gemstone # AMETRBOL637
Name: Ametrine
Locality: Bolivia
Weight: 6.37 carats
Size: 12.22 mm
Price per Carat: $ 40.00
Price For Stone: $ 254.80
      Cut: Brilliant Heart
Color: Purple and Yellow
Clarity: Eye Clean
Cut by Us: yes
Availability: Available

Comments:

Ametrine is a unique variety of Quartz from the finest occurrence in the world.  It is a naturally occurring purple and yellow bi-color gem that is formed by a unique twin law ("Brazil Law Twinning") where two separate individually colored crystals are intergrown to form an alternating "radiation" pattern of purple and yellow triangles when viewed down the c axis.  The two colors are oriented based upon their position inside the crystal to create the famous bicolor gemstones,  This particular gem was cut by Allyce Kosnar on December 1, 2010 and is a GORGEOUS and totally one-of-a-kind, superbly cut, mixed purple/yellow bicolor, virtually eye clean gemstone with an eye-catching Brilliant Modified Heart cut.  Thisis a truly beautiful stone and when Ametrine is well cut, it looks amazing.  The most important aspect of this stone is the fact that it is not only a bicolor gem, but the colors are separated into four alternating distinct corners of the gem!  It is exceptionally difficult to orient a piece of rough to produce a stone like this.  It would be virtually impossible to replicate the color pattern, making this a singular and eye-catching stone.  If you've ever wanted a truly SPECIAL, high quality Ametrine that stands out from the rest, do not let this stone get away!  It has come to my attention that the mine is no longer in production of this material and the market has quickly "dried up".  Don't miss this opportunity to own a unique, colorful, naturally occurring/untreated gemstone.

Gemstone # SUNOREG1006
Name: Sunstone
Locality: Oregon
Weight: 10.06 carats
Size: 14.55 mm
Price per Carat: $ 100.00
Price For Stone: $ 1006.00
      Cut: Portuguese Trillion
Color: Orange, Red and Blue
Clarity: VSI
Cut by Us: No
Availability: Available

Comments:

10 carats is rather large for a red Sunstone gem from Oregon. This stone is red throughout and saturated with “shiller” (copper inclusions) which is highly desirable in Sunstone from this locality. There is also a blue stripe of color that travels through the middle of the stone making for one of the rarest color combinations for Oregon Sunstone with both red and blue together. We really enjoy cutting US gems and Sunstone is one of our favorites, we hope it will be yours too. This stone was faceted by Brett Kosnar.

Gemstone # SUNOREG950
Name: Sunstone
Locality: Oregon
Weight: 9.50 carats
Size: 16.48 x 11.78 mm
Price per Carat: $ 100.00
Price For Stone: $ 950.00
      Cut: Modified Custom Pear
Color: Red and Orange
Clarity: VSI
Cut by Us: yes
Availability: Available

Comments:

The red color and brilliance of this stone come off well with this pear shape cut. This stone is red throughout and saturated with “shiller” (copper inclusions) which is very common in Sunstone from Oregon. Good quality Sunstone rough has become harder for us to find due to the market price increase and the abundance of poor quality rough that has flooded the market in the past few years. So we have to be very selective when we are choosing rough to be facetd for our inventory. This stone was faceted by Allyce Kosnar.
