BERYL (variety: Emerald)
with Quartz, Albite and Schorl -

This is a great "miniature" size specimen. The North
Carolina Emeralds are considered by many to be the
best from the United States. They have such great
color and a fair amount of gemminess. This piece has
some SUPERB color, deep green, gemmy prismatic
Emerald crystals associated with Quartz, Albite, Schorl
and Muscovite.
Locality: Crabtree Mt., near Brush Creek, 4 miles south
of Spruce Pine, Mitchell County, North Carolina
Specimen Size: 4.7 x 3.7 x 2.0 cm. (Largest Crystal: 1
cm. long)

in mica schist -

This is a really nice reference specimen. The North
Carolina Emeralds are considered by many to be the
best from the United States. They have such great
color and a fair amount of gemminess. This piece has
some good color, deep green, prismatic Emerald
crystals intergrown with mica.
Locality: Crabtree Mt., near Brush Creek, 4 miles south
of Spruce Pine, Mitchell County, North Carolina

I've seen some very interesting Rutile specimens from
North Carolina over the years. This is a very nice little
"thumbnail" size specimen featuring a very sharp cyclic
twinned crystal.

RUTILE with Muscovite

This piece has a fine, sharp, deep red crystal of Rutile
on a nice bed of Muscovite crystals. The back side of
the specimen also has some smaller, reticulated
Rutile crystals which are not pictured.

This is a great example of a classic, sharp, "fourling" of
Rutile from this well known locality. It is very nice from
the display side, although not complete on the back.
