TENNANTITE
on Quartz -
(SOLD)
More than likely, the crystals on this specimen are not
pure Tennantite, or perhaps not Tennantite at all, but
rather an intermediate mixture of the series end
members Tennantite and Tetrahedrite. It has been my
experience that the majority of these specimens when
analyzed will produce results leading to Tennantite, so
that's what species I chose to label them as I had no
analysis performed on these pieces. Sometimes,
these crystals are actually epitaxial overgrowths of
Tennantite/Tetrahedrite over Chalcopyrite, or at least a
sign that Chalcopyrite once existed, but since
there is no Chalcopyrite visible on the specimens they
are labeled Tennantite/Tetrahedrite. John White
reported in the Mineralogical Record (Vol. 3, No.
3, pg. 115-119) that "While the crystals appear to be
solid, many of them are actually hollow or at least partly
hollow shells of tennantite-tetrahedrite." Please
reference this article for more information on these
highly interesting specimens.
Locality: El Cobre mine, Concepción del Oro,
Zacatecas, Mexico
Specimen Size: 12 x 11 x 3 cm.

TENNANTITE
on Quartz -
(SOLD)
This one has some of the most well formed
crystals that I have ever seen on one of these
specimens from El Cobre. Look at the absolute
perfection of these modifications on the crystals, a
great specimen for sure.

PYRRHOTITE
-
$500
A great large, lustrous hexagonal crystal group that can
be displayed from many angles as you can see. Not
many of these old specimens from Santa Eulalia are
around anymore. Interestingly enough, Leigh Price
purchased this piece from Richard Kosnar over 20
years ago.
Locality: Santa Eulalia, Chihuahua, Mexico
Specimen Size: 10 x 7.5 x 6 cm.

on Natrolite -
$350 (SOLD)
Superb, highly lustrous, sharp, dark-blue, gem
Benitoite crystals up to 1.2 cm. across on white
Natrolite matrix. The backside of the main Benitoite
crystal has a slight ding. The crystal would definitely
yield a clean dark blue gemstone.
Locality: Benitoite Gem mine, San Benito County,
California
Specimen Size: 5 x 3 x 2.5 cm.

$300 (SOLD)
A very aesthetic, lustrous, white, "bow tie"-shaped
Stilbite crystal group flaring off a pale pink Heulandite
matrix. Admittedly there are thousands of these pieces
available from India, but this one stands among one of
the most aesthetic I've seen.
Locality: Nasik, India
Specimen Size: 10 x 8 x 4 cm.
