extremely beautiful. This is a very sharp, gem crystal of
a species that few collectors have a good example.

BERYL (variety
Heliodor
) -
$7,000
This is one of the finest examples of a Brazilian
Heliodor that I've ever seen. At one point in time,
this would rival other specimens for the "best in the
world" title (excluding the Russian Heliodors).
Nevertheless, this is an absolutely gem, deep golden
color, prismatic, sharp crystal that would yield large,
clean gemstones from a mine that produced some
superb specimens ! Richard Kosnar brought this piece
back from Brazil in July of 1974, after he had been
made aware of the locality from Richard Gaines in
1973. Other associated minerals at this locality are
dark gemmy Rubellite, Microcline and Muscovite.
Locality: Serra da Mesa mine, Minaçu (Minassu),
Goias, Brazil
Specimen Size: 5.5 x 2 cm. (Weight: 47.5 grams)
Mined: 1974
