Eosphorite from Chamachu, Pakistan
During the Summer
of 2007 in Pakistan, a superb find was made of exemplary, gemmy,
lustrous, pinkish-orange to yellow-orange Eosphorite crystals. To
the best of my knowledge, these specimens represent the best of
that find. These specimens host some of the brightest color and
finest quality Eosphorite crystals that I have seen from any world
locality. There is obviously a strong Manganese presence in these
crystals as they have little to no brown overtone whatsoever. With
regard to quality, some of the smaller crystals are absolutely water-clear!
Secondly, many of these pieces are associated with several other
species on the same specimen, including a few specimens with the
highly sought after, very rare and beautiful phosphate,
Väyrynenite.
Several specimens are associated with Topaz, Tourmaline, Albite,
Microcline, Lepidolite, Quartz, and possibly some kind of tantalate
(Stibiotantalite or Manganotantalite?). Please note that there are
a few specimens with an unidentified species, which
will be noted in the descriptions below.
This is a very exciting, albeit limited discovery of these stunning
Eosphorite crystals. For the color and quality, they certainly rank
among the finest ever found. I purchased these specimens nearly
a year ago in anticipation that more would surface, but I have subsequently
seen next to nothing since that time. These specimens should excite
all phosphate enthusiasts, along with collectors of Pakistani or
pegmatite minerals. Please note that the locality Chamachu was
the given locality when I purchased the material, and I apologize
for not having anything more specific.

Eos Pak 8081
Eosphorite with Unknown Species on Albite and Microcline -
$1500
One
of the showiest and most dramatic specimens of this material
that I have seen featuring a beautiful, translucent, pinkish-orange
spray of Eosphorite which is associated with very small (less
than 1 mm) spherical aggregates of an unknown brown species
(possibly a phosphate?). I have not had this brown material
analyzed as I barely have enough for a single sample, and I
cannot find anything worth sacrificing on any of the specimens.
The spray of Eosphorite is aesthetically sitting on a partial
grey-white Microcline crystal which is coated by small white
Albite crystals. A very eye-catching display specimen, and simply
one of the finest pieces from this find.

Topaz on Albite (var: Cleavelandite) with Eosphorite -

This
piece admittedly is not much of an Eosphorite specimen, but
truly is a pretty good cabinet size Topaz specimen which is
associated with Eosphorite. I must stress that the Topaz crystal
looks better in person than the photos would suggest, and it
was very difficult to accurately portray this piece in the pictures.
It is a very good size, matrix Topaz display specimen for under
$1000, which is becoming more and more difficult in todays
market.

we have a very showy display specimen which features several
superb quality, gem/gemmy, bright orange Eosphorite crystals
which are associated with a WATER-CLEAR gem Topaz crystal and
pale lavender Lepidolite crystals on lovely white bladed Albite
(var: Cleavelandite) matrix. This is certainly one of the
most attractive pieces in the lot, and actually looks better
in person due to the fact that the Topaz was very difficult

Eosphorite with Lepidolite on Microcline (Baveno Twin) -

This
specimen would be remarkable just for the Baveno twin alone.
It is a dramatic, well-formed, sculptural twin which is adorned
by several superb quality, gemmy, orange color Eosphorite crystals
and pale lilac groups of Lepidolite. To top it off, the specimen
has a lovely white sprinkling of Albite crystals on two sides.
This piece can easily be displayed from several angles, and
is certainly one of the finest specimens of this material that
I have seen.

Eosphorite with Väyrynenite, Tourmaline, Topaz, Albite (var:
Cleavelandite), possibly Stibiotantalite or Manganotantalite?,
and one unknown species - (Seven species on the same piece!)

To say that this piece has a lot going on is an understatement.
This specimen hosts SEVEN species, and is truly a delight to
view. Honestly, there is no one characteristic of the piece
that stands out more than another in my opinion. There are several
attractive pastel orange color Eosphorite crystals which are
sitting on white Albite (var: Cleavelandite) crystals that
are coating a thick, prismatic dark blue and black Tourmaline
crystal. The piece also hosts a few gemmy Topaz crystals plus
a small dark red {Stibiotantalite?
or Manganotantalite?} crystal, PLUS one of the Topaz
crystals actually has {Stibiotantalite?
or Manganotantalite?} inclusions! Additionally,
there are some small, dark brown, rosette-shaped spherical
aggregates of an unknown mineral (possibly a phosphate?) on
the piece as well. Last but not least, the upper portion of
the specimen features a small, but very bright pink crystal
of Väyrynenite! It is not often that pegmatite specimens have
this many associations on the same piece, let alone the great
mix of rarity with colorful more common species. One final note,
it appears that this piece might possibly be repaired towards
the base, but it is glued to an acrylic stand, and I cannot
tell for sure if it is only a crack, or a genuine repair. Nonetheless,
one does not see many specimens like this one from Pakistan
or any other pegmatite district. Enjoy.

This
toenail specimen hosts the largest and richest color Eosphorite
crystal in the lot. Honestly, I think the piece could be trimmed
down to a top-shelf thumbnail, to even enhance its value. The
main Eosphorite crystal on this specimen is actually doubly-terminated,
and weve tried to illustrate this in the photos, but it does
not show up as well as it does in person. There are many Eosphorite
crystals on this piece, possibly more than any other specimen
in the lot, and they are sitting atop contrasting white Microcline
matrix. This highly aesthetic and salient little specimen is
a remarkable Eosphorite from any locality. It packs a lot of
character for a smaller specimen.

This
is certainly one of the finest small miniatures in the lot,
and just an awesome association specimen! It features a dramatic,
alluring crystallized burst of tan to orange color Eosphorite
crystals which are associated with a few dazzling bright pink
sprays of acicular Väyrynenite which are associated with green,
blue and black Tourmaline, and a small spherical somewhat rosette-shaped
aggregate of an unknown brown mineral (possibly a phosphate?)
on white Albite matrix. The specimen is simply one of the most
attractive association specimens in the lot, and certainly has
the finest Väyrynenite association, the likes of which I have
never seen from Pakistan.
